Raven’s Progressive Matrices is a standardised psychological instrument used to assess general non-verbal intelligence (g factor). It is one of the most widely used intelligence tests internationally.
The person must observe a series of incomplete matrices (geometric figures or patterns) and choose the option that logically completes the sequence. Items become progressively more difficult, requiring logical thinking and abstract reasoning.
Who is it for? Raven can be used with children, teenagers, and adults (age-appropriate forms), in educational, clinical, or career guidance settings.
Duration: approximately 30–45 minutes depending on the form used and the person’s pace.
- Abstract reasoning ability
- Identifying logical patterns
- Mental flexibility and analytical thinking
- Assessment with minimal influence from language or school knowledge
